North Somerset Bat Survey – Partners and Funders

North Somerset Council are funding the North Somerset Bat Survey to gain an understanding of how bats use the landscape in North Somerset. This project, and other research being conducted in the UWE Bat Conservation Research Lab, aims to minimise the impact of new development on North Somerset’s bat populations. View website

The British Trust for Ornithology is managing the technical aspects of the North Somerset Bat Survey. Originally focusing on birds, the BTO now works in partnership with volunteers to monitor and conserve other wildlife, including bats. Their work uses robust, scientific methodology to engage communities with nature and guide local and national policies. View website

Natural England are sponsored by the Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs and advise the government on environment-related matters in England. Their work contributes to sustainable development through working towards enhancing, conserving and managing the natural environment for current and future generations. View website
